NOTE. you need the software version 2.13.156R or newer in order to use this feature. In case your software is older update it downloading from the site.

In order to update your GP II you need a memory card reader, you cannot update your SD/ CF  without it.

1. First of all download and unzip the update files from our support section.

2. Enable the show of hidden files. Create on your Desktop the folder 'Old SD/ CF'  and copy in it all the files from the SD/ CF (is the backup folder if something goes wrong).  Omit to copy the 'CHARTS' folder. Create on your Desktop the folder 'New SD/ CF' and copy in it the same files you copied in 'Old SD/ CF'.

with the ones in 'New SD/ CFD' (do not touch the CHART folder).

Turn on the Geopilot and check if the procedure was correctly executed. If not, reinstall in the SD the files from 'Old SD/ CFD' and repeat the procedure.

WARNING: this procedure can delete all user marks from the RAM. Save them first in the SD with File Manager.

The Airline Airway, Control Airway and Direct Route Airway are showed from 5 Nm. This is the default setting. It is also possible to select them in scale 50 Nm, 20 Nm, 10 Nm. The Official Designated Airway and RNAV Airway have been set from scale 50 Nm.

You can enrich your maps adding extra POIs such as speed cameras downloaded from the internet in .ov2 format.

How to download the files:

Geosat is compatible with POI in OV2 format. These POi are distributed by several websites such as  WWW.ADIVOR.IT Once you have downloaded the files, please check inside the folder that for each file there is also a corresponding image file  (eg. speedtraps.ov2 and speedtraps.bmp )

Then use the GSUpdate in order to load them on your Geosat:

1. If you have not installed the GSUpdate yet, Read the procedure to download GSUpdate

2. Connect the navigator to the PC and start GSUpdate.

3. Select "Transfer" to load the POI files in the navigator4. Browse the PC to select the downloaded database.5. Associate the database to a safety camera category and icon (fixed speed cameras, mobile, traffic lights, special).The files will be loaded on the navigator and converted into the AvMap format. Once the procedure is completed close the application and disconnect.

Activate the POI on the Geosat:

modified and move the JOYSTICK either up or down, then confirm by pressing the + button.

The AvMap navigation software only works with AvMap original memory cards. AvMap Memory cards cannot be duplicated or modified, if your memory card is damaged, please contact AvMap technical support.

To check your Jeppesen information is sufficient to turn on your Geopilot/EKP and access to the map view.
Press Menu and Menu again, then select "About" and press ENTER ( or zoom in ) to access. In that page you will find the Jeppesen Cycle Information.

Search for the last information "AERONAUTICAL DATA", you will find a code like:
X-YZ-Nxxx.yy ( dd/mm/yy )

Note: the two last numbers can be related to the cycle number

e.g
..........
.27 = 1108 cycle
.28 = 1109 cycle
.29 = 1110 cycle
.30 = 1111 cycle
.31 = 1112 cycle
To check your loader version is sufficient to turn on your Geopilot/EKP and access to the map view.

Press Menu and Menu again, then select "About" and press ENTER ( or zoom in ) to access.
In that page you will find the LOADER information, with a lable like that:

LOADER:  V X.YZ ( dd/mm/yy )
To save waypoints and flight plans when upgrading the database, you will need to save the points to the Card: Menu > Menu > Database > Enter> Menu > Initialize > Enter > Zoom-In > Enter > Select Type > Enter (Repeat Zoom-In To Save Additional Information If Needed). This information is stored in the “userimg.bin” file located on the Card. If you are upgrading your database with a new Card, simply copy the “userimg.bin” file from the original card to your computer hard drive. Insert the new Card into the card reader and delete the “userimg.bin” file located on that Card, replace it with the “userimg.bin” file you saved to your computer.
At this link:   UPDATES_PROCEDURE

is available the complete procedure to update the software and the Jeppesen (aeronautical database)

It is possible to convert the data stored in the EKP / Geopilot to a gpx format and vice versa, in order to view them in Google Earth or other mapping software, using the GPX CONVERTER tool, that can be downloaded for free form the AvMap website.

1. Download The GPS Converter here!

2. Unzip the file and extract the exe file together with the instructions.

Conversion from USRIMG to GPX

1. Extract the memory card form the navigator and read it with a memory card reader

2. Copy from the memory card the USRIMG.BIN file and save it in your PC.

3. Run the Converter.exe then press the "USERIMG to GPX" button on the program console.

4. Select the USRIMG.BIN file to be converted ( previously saved on your PC), then select the destination folder in which the GPX files will be created.
In that folder will be saved GPX format copies of the user data stored in the USERIMG.BIN file.
NOTE : each user data will be stored in a different GPX file. In case an object in the USRIMG.BIN file stores more than one route, several GPX files will be created, each with one route.

Conversion from GPX to USRIMG

1. Run the Converter.exe thenPress "GPX to USERIMG" on the program console

2. Select the GPX file to be converted ( previously saved on your PC)

3. Select the empty USRIMG.BIN file present in the GPS Converter folder (the GPX file will be converted and inserted in this file)

4. Extract the memory card form the navigator and read it with a memory card reader and then Copy the newly modified USERIMG.BIN file in the main folder of the memory card.

In order to see the new data on the navigator, load them using File Manager function.
An empty USRIMG file is included, but also not empty files can be used as well. New data will be added to them until the maximum capacity will be reached.
NOTE : due to memory restraints the space available in the USRIMG.BIN file for user data is limited. No more than 1000 Waypoints, 5000 Track points and 100 legs routes can be saved from a single file and no more than 60 files can be stored in an USRIMG.BIN

If the flight fields do not have a  ICAO code reported in the database of our data providers (Avioportolano for Italy, Aeroshop for Spain) we automatically create a code formed by the first two letters of the province and a sequence of numbers within the same province.

For different countries, there may be homonyms (eg Turin and Toledo).

Use the scroll symbol to find  the desired one.

The card is initialized when you create a file User.img where it is possible to save user data.

Press and hold the Speaker key for three seconds.

When you plan a flight you can set the a VFR reporting point as a mark and save it as user waypoint. More easily you can add a VFR reporting point directly to the map (as for all the others POI). This procedure implies an automatic marking of the VFR reporting point. Example:

  • Press twice the MENU key, select FLIGHT PLAN and press ENTER.
  • Press once the MENU key, select VIEWED FP and press ENTER.
  • From the FLIGHT PLAN MENU select FP EMPTY and press ENTER.
  • Go back to the map and set the cursor on the departure airport icon.
  • Press ENTER, select ADD FP LEG and press ENTER.
  • Move the cursor on any place on the display where you want to fly over (like a VFR reportin point) and press ENTER.
  • Select ADD FP LEG and press ENTER to confirm (please note the automatic marking of the name to the waypoint).

If your AvMap Geosat doesn’t work properly, please contact the AvMap Technical Support team by e-mail on [email protected] .

Firstly you will be helped to solve your problem remotely by following standard technical support procedure. If this attempt is not successful, you will receive a Return Machine Authorization (RMA) in order to send the unit (or its components) to our offices and get your device repaired.

Verify your registration ( your data and the details of your navigator ), if you are not registered yet please insert your datas on www.avmap.it - Support - Registration. This procedure is mandatory to ship the device in assistance if you will need.
